"After my son turned 2 years old, I was eager to have another child. When I last spoke with my Reproductive Endocronologist (RE), I was given the following discouraging statistics based on my age: 
-I had less than a 1% chance of conceiving naturally 
-80% of my eggs were chromosomally abnormal, and with each passing three months, this percentage rises by 10%. 

I was originally diagnosed as having ovarian dysfunction. This was such a general diagnoses that it was hard for me to believe that I couldn't treat my infertility. I decided to pursue alternative medicine by subscribing to acupuncture treatments and Traditional Chinese Medicine. By working with Dr. Ren, I was able to: 
- Maintain my FSH levels below 7.5 
- Develop 9 to 11 antral follicles at each cycle, a quantity which is above average for anyone in my age group (>40). My RE advised that women in this age group usually develop 1 to 2 antral follicles on each ovary. 
- Show a consistent dip and rise in my basal body temperature at each cycle. That is, I was able to show with some precision when I ovulated, followed by a steady rise in temperature during the luteal phase, which lasted approximately 14 days. 

During my last consultation with my RE, I was told that my body was responding like that of a 32-year old rather a 43- year old. It was as if I had developed a youthful endocronal system. I attribute this to the work of Dr. Ren through auricular, electroacupunture, and moxibustion that were augmented with herbal teas. I believe the acupuncture and herbs were able to do the following for me: 
-Improve the function of the ovaries to produce higher quality eggs. With Dr. Ren's help, I was able to release quality eggs that were capable of developing into a pregnancy. 
-Regulate the hormones to produce a larger number of follicles 
-Increase blood flow to the uterus and increase the thickness of the uterine lining 
-Improve blood flow to the ovaries, improving ovarian response and function for more follicles, better egg production and quality. That is the main reason the RE continued to work with me through the IVF cycles. 
- Strengthen the immune system/Increase energy 
Overall, Dr. Ren helped enhance my reproductive health. Acupuncture and herbal treatment are an effective modality of intervention to aid in the facilitation of conception. Finally, I delivered my healthy daughter on January 29th."
